Ethane, or Dicarbon Hexahydride (C2H6) is a colorless odorless gas.

Ethane has 7 covalent bonds between the carbon and the hydrogen molecules, that form a tetrahedral geometry, with 109.5 degree angles.
The Empirical Formula for ethane is CH3
In order to find our percent compostion, we look at the atomic mass of each element.
Carbon's atomic mass is 12, and there is two of them, so that adds up to 24.
Hydrogen's atomic mass is only one, and there's six of them so it adds up to 6.
We put both over our sum in order to find our percent composition.

Then if we do out our calculations it comes out to 80%, and Hydrogen is 20%.
